Application for Interdisciplinary Research Team Grant Program - Track C

To promote interdisciplinary collaboration, we provide grants to form research clusters and support cross-college teams in developing competitive, large-scale external funding proposals.
These grants support planning activities such as team formation, preliminary data collection, concept development, and proposal preparation for center-level or program-project grants.

These grants are designed to support inter-disciplinary, cross-college teams that are targeting $1,000,000+ grants. Typically these grants are center-grants or other large-scale programs. Teams typically have prior experience working together.

To be eligible, teams should consist of at least four faculty members representing at least two colleges. Teams should already have a detailed research agenda and collaboration plan. You must identify at least one targeted external funding opportunity and provide a definite funding workplan, with milestones, responsibilities, and a timeline.

This seed grant will provide up to $5000 to support proposal development. ORD will also provide assistance with proposal review, editing services, graphic development, and other services as appropriate; needs will be determined in consultation with ORD. While there are fewer restrictions on the use of funds in this program, applicants must provide a detailed description of how their planned use of funds will concretely move the proposal to submission.

You will have monthly check-ins with ORD regarding progress and continuing needs regarding proposal development. At the end of the grant, you must submit a detailed accounting of how funds were spent. Within one year, you must submit a proposal for at least $1,000,000 for external funding and send confirmation of submission to ORD.
