Welcome to the Event Proposal form for the JMU Lifelong Learning Institute at James Madison University. Please complete this form if you are interested in presenting a 1-time talk, lecture, workshop, dinner, tasting, or other cool event during either the fall or spring semester. Depending on the length of your event, it may be a perfect fit for our Noontime Knowledge or Wine and Wisdom series, as part of our class schedule or as a standalone pop up event. This will mostly depend on length!

10.Questions 11 - 18 refer to the specifics of your presentation and where, when and how you would like to teach. Noontime Knowledge and Wine & Wisdom presentations are 1 hour long. Proposals for presentations, workshops, or lectures over 1 hour are WELCOME but may be scheduled outside on the established lecture series.

12.Do you have a preference over which series you present in? Please note: Noontime Knowledge events are held at the Ice House in downtown Harrisonburg on TUESDAYS at 12:00-1:15pm. Wine &Wisdom events are held at Brix and Columns, McGahyesville, VA on WEDNESDAY evenings 3:30-6pm.

Wine and Wisdom presentations also tend to be 1 hour in length followed by social time, whereas Noontime Knowledge presentations are 1 hour with 15 minutes reserved for questions. 

Both venues have audio/visual capabilities for presentations, audio, and video.

15.Our Noontime Knowledge and Wine & Wisdom events are open to membership at no cost. No registration is required. If you have a minimum or maximum number of participants that would make your presentation, workshop, lecture or event a success it may require registration but it will not preclude you from consideration.

16.If additional fees for course materials are expected beyond printed handouts, please provide an amount and description of additional costs. For example, these fees could be for specific art supplies, a textbook, a multi-page course book, etc. These fees will not be included in the cost of the course, but collected separately by the instructor or purchased by the participant. Any additional course materials that require additional fees will be distributed by the instructor, unless purchased directly by the participant.
