Opportunities to Support First-Gen Students at JMU

Thank you for your interest in supporting First-Generation Student Success at James Madison University!

We serve over 4,000 first-generation college students at JMU by providing resources such as networking opportunities, workshops, study abroad programs, and a dedicated space for first-gen students to study, rest, and collaborate.

At JMU, a first-generation college student is defined as someone whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not graduate from a four-year institution. However, we welcome and support any student with limited prior exposure to or knowledge of the college experience.

To learn more about First-Generation Student Success and the programs we offer, visit jmu.edu/first-gen.

If you're interested in getting involved, please complete this form, and a member of our team will follow up with you. You do not need to have been first-gen to support first-gen students!
