*Please scroll down for complete information!

Interested in monitoring your health and practicing healthy lifestyle behaviors this 2024? We are partnering with the Balanced Dukes’ Whole Health Challenge to measure health variables (i.e., blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, weight, and physical activity, among others) before and after the 8-week challenge (see description below). It is important to clarify that you may participate in the Whole Health Challenge without participating in our study (IRB approval #24-4575).

The health monitoring services will be offered to 150 individuals participating in the Whole Health Challenge who also indicate their interest in taking part in our study and sign an informed consent form. This study is being conducted by the Departments of Health Professions and Kinesiology.

Study participation involves:
A) A total time commitment of 10 weeks

---Completion of a fasting lab visit (about 30 min) for weight, height, blood pressure, finger prick for glucose and cholesterol profile.
---Completion of online questionnaires related to general health, physical activity, nutrition, sleep and mindfulness
---Only for a subgroup: wearing an Actigraph (similar to a pager/beeper) on your hip for 7 days

C)During the 8-week Whole Health Challenge:
---Full participation in the challenge which involves daily tracking of healthy habits (https://www.jmu.edu/humanresources/balanced-dukes/commonhealth/quarterly-campaigns/whole-health-challenge.shtml)

D) 1 week after the Whole Health Challenge: same as before, one 30-min fasted lab visit and completion of questionnaires.
